And once again, the artist’s predilection for Asian symbology comes to the fore. They look rather cute, though. Incidentally, a white beckoning cat is a draw for happiness. Gold ones draw wealth, naturally. Black ones protect against illness, but that might be only a Japanese superstition, I think the Chinese still consider them bad luck. The raised left paw invites in guests, the raised right paw invites prosperity.
