Wow. I am so sorry for the delay. The art was actually ready in record time. But the French. Oh God. The French. I hate French now. So much. If my death is recorded in the papers as unnatural and self-inflicted, you can be sure it will be because I created a three-foot high stack of Berlitz language books and HANGED MYSELF.
But I think I got it mostly right, so at least there is that.
New comic Monday. Also come visit my ass at Emerald City Comicon.
I wonder what a cloud-fluff “snowball” feels like when it hits someone in the face. I don’t *have* to wonder how Etoile is going to react when SHE gets one in the face…
This looks like a case of “Think Fast!” when Étoiel reveals herself…
Lovely art.
Considering you’re battling with French, have you ever considered using google translate and then just doing a check to see if the grammar is correct? Or finding a native french speaker to do the check for you? (No, I don’t speak french beyond a few simple phrases, most commonly used is “parlez-vous anglais?”)
Google translate thinks your first frame should be “Maintenant, où est cette fille? Probablement trop dormir ou manger avec excès.” Viva la difference?
Anyway, been loving the comic. Keep up the great work!
Hiya, Phecda!
Unfortunately, the fluent French speaker I had lined up to double-check me had to back out, and I don’t know any native speakers myself. Currently, I use Google Translate in conjunction with WordReference, several grammar and conjugation reference sites and a couple of old French textbooks. I’ve also been playing around with My French Coach on my DS and Duolingo online. Actually, Google Translate isn’t terrible, but the trouble is that it tends to be extremely literal – it doesn’t always handle commonly used grammar or colloquialisms well, hence the backups to my backups. 🙂
You’re miles ahead of me. Carry on…
