It seems that all things are NOT as they seem, in fact. But then, you all knew that. 🙂
We’re less than a week to the beginning of the drive to Emerald City Comic Con. Excited, but also very worried – not the least of which because the SinisterCat books haven’t turned up yet, and the place I am ordering from lists them as “still printing.” That sit-rep may be inaccurate, of course, but if it is, then it’s terrifying. I hit the road in six days!
New comic Thursday.
UPDATE: Edited some of the truly egregious French. Hopefully all can now run smoothly!
Wow, he blew her halo clean off! Lolo never managed anything quite that dramatic with Demonchat (though not for lack of trying).
Good luck with Emerald City Comic Con – I hope the books are done just *before* the last minute.
panel 1: Étoile uses the “vous” form all the time, except for “s’il te plaît”? Shouldn’t it be “s’il vous plaît”, to keep in line?
Whoha, her Halo is flying away…..
You’re right, normally Etoile is very very formal! However, if he’s trying to be even a little coaxing, I can see him softening his tone a little. He probably sucks at it though. 🙂
Also, if Angelchat is female, it should be “ma chère”… (panel 1)
How did I miss that the first read-over?
Also, searched for the exact meaning of entretenir… I think it’s wrong here.
entretenir does mean “maintainance”, entretenir qn. means paying for his/her expenses….
“Ma chère, puis-je converser avec vous. Tête-à -tête, s’il vous plaît?”
Or:
“Ma chère, je veut parler avec vous téte-à -téte, s’il vous plaît.”
It appears I got a little too hasty last time and the translation was just a little too literal. I think the closest approximation to the actual phrase would be “Je veux dire un mot, en privé,” although simply “je veux parler avec vous.”(or “je voudrais” if he’s being his fancy-butt polite self.) Either way, I’ll change it to something more appropriate in the edit!
Thank you!
Much better now!
🙂
Woops, I missed that one myself! I’ll look over and fix the French, reupload when I get the chance. Thanks for the catch!
